Many people
believe that counselling is for times of crisis only, but it is
also helpful when we feel low, stressed, anxious, or generally
out of touch with our deeper self, (who we really are).
Person-centred counselling encourages and develops our inner
strength. Greater self awareness and self acceptance enhance
personal growth and well-being. It is based on the beliefs and
teachings of eminent psychologist Carl Rogers.
My way of
working is based on person-centred principles with the addition
of cognitive behavioural therapy and gestalt influences where
appropriate. Each client is a new challenge and my therapy
adapts to suit their needs. I believe in a holistic approach to
health and well being so the connection of mind/body/spirit
underlies all my practice.
The first
session is to see if we feel comfortable to work together which
is very important, I assess your needs and tell you if I feel I
could help you. My counselling room is comfortable, quiet, and
on ground level.
